Stephen has played an active part in introducing mindfulness to Brazil and other countries in South America. Practicing since 1991, he is one of Brazil’s most experienced teachers and has given courses, workshops, and classes to a wide range of clients in and around South America.
Stephen and his colleagues joined forces with the Brazilian National Institute of Industry to adapt a classic eight-week program to the needs of the Brazilian workplace. Stephen was the architect of the adapted course whose impressive results were published in Frontiers in Psychology in 2018.
Stephen has taught courses and events for employees of the Paulista School of Medicine, Federal Justice and several companies including 3M, McKinsey, Oath, Google, Facebook, Hospital Einstein, Natura and Boticário.
His mindfulness centre in Jardins, São Paulo, is focused both on group and one-to-one teaching. A member of the Numier - Integrative Medicine team at Emílio Ribas Hospital, São Paulo, he is currently researching the impact of MBSR on patients with HIV. Stephen is the Head of Learning at Alain de Botton’s “The School of Life” in São Paulo.
